The purpose of the “Mentor Certification” online course is to equip you with a deeper understanding of breast cancer in its entirety so that you can guide yourself and other breast cancer survivors on an optimal road to recovery. The course reviews the many types of breast cancer, the stages of breast cancer, and the medical treatment of breast cancer. Potential side effects are detailed so you can recognize and seek proper treatment promptly to minimize or prevent dysfunction caused by non treatment during recovery. Radiation fibrosis, radiation induced brachial plexopathy, chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy, axilla web syndrome, lymphedema, scar tissue adhesions, myofascial pain syndrome, post mastectomy pain syndrome, phantom breast syndrome, breast implant problems, hypersensitivity, and frozen shoulder are just some of the side effects explained.

You Will be Able to:
- Identify and understand breast cancer types, prevalence, medical and surgical interventions during the treatment phase to eradicate the cancer.
- Identify medical conditions that can arise after the treatment phase and during the recovery phase.
- Understand and identify which conditions can be improved with physical therapy intervention including but not limited to: Radiation fibrosis syndrome, Post mastectomy pain syndrome, Phantom breast syndrome, Lymphedema of the arm, axilla, breast and/or trunk, Shoulder pain, Frozen shoulder, Neck pain and stiffness, Impingement syndrome, Neuropathy, Hypersensitivity, Chemo brain and lymphedema , axilla cording, scar tissue and fascia adhesions, myofascial pain syndrome, muscle weakness.
- Recognize other side effects during the recovery phase and understand which medical professional or intervention is needed.
- Develop a concept of a team approach during the recovery phase which includes physicians, physical and occupational therapists, mental health professionals, nutritionists and dietitian, and a social support system.

- At the end of your training, you will receive a current dated and signed certificate which should be displayed prominently in your office.
