The office of Federal Student Aid provides grants, loans, and work-study funds for college or career school. “Federal Student Aid is responsible for managing the student financial assistance programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. These programs provide grants, loans, and work-study funds to students attending college or career school.”

Grants & Scholarships

Grants and scholarships are considered “gifted aid”. Usually, grants and scholarships do not have to be paid back. Grants tend to be awarded on needs based. Scholarships are usually awarded on merit. To find out more about grants and scholarships go to https://studentaid.gov/

Loans

Loans are borrowed money that needs to be paid back usually with interest. Loans can be private, such as through a bank or other financial institution, or they can be public, federal government loans. To find out more about loans go https://studentaid.gov/

Admission

School Admission Requirements

All applicants must be above the compulsory age of school attendance, sixteen (16) years old. Any applicant who is under eighteen (18) years of age must have a parent or guardian with them when applying for admission. If the applicant is under 18 years of age, a form of identification will also be required from the parent or guardian. Applicants must provide photo identification.

The school admits as students those who have a valid High School Diploma or GED.  If the students High School Diploma is in a foreign language it is the responsibility of the student to get the diploma translated into English by a school approved translator. At the school’s discretion, official transcripts may be requested and evaluated by the director prior to enrollment of the student. If the information cannot be adequately verified, the student will be required, at their expense, to take and pass a GED test prior to enrollment.

Any applicants that do not meet the above-mentioned requirements shall be denied admission. A letter explaining the reason(s) will be given to the applicant upon request and a copy kept on file at the school for at least one year.

The school does not discriminate against applicants for admission based on age, race, color, sex, religion, marital status or ethnic origin.

This comprehensive facial specialist program will prepare students with an extensive understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the skin as well as providing students with the techniques to provide safe and effective skin care treatments. Students will be taught to recognize skin dysfunctions and be equipped to treat common skin issues like acne or melasma while understanding when to refer client to their medical provider.

Class lessons are structured with a good balance of classroom and lab hours with focus on professionalism and cleanliness in both settings. Instruction topics include make up artistry, hair removal, product chemistry, sanitation, electrotherapy, lash and brow tinting and lash application. The program allows adequate time to practice manual skills and techniques on an array of clientele in order to perfect skills and be confident to enter the workforce.

• Student will be able to identify career opportunities available in the facial specialist field of practice

• Students will maintain safety in both personal and work environments while abiding by the rules and regulations of management in the job place.

• Student will demonstrate sanitary, safe and appropriate practices while performing skin care services on clients. Students will further practice skin care in a professional manner with clear communication within their scope of practice.

• Student will gain a good understanding of skin anatomy and physiology as well as skin care treatment techniques to appropriately provide clients with effective and safe skin care treatments.

• Student able to explain the importance of employability skills as well as demonstrate skills in entrepreneurship

• Student demonstrates leadership as well as teamwork skills in order to accomplish team goals and objectives

• Student verbalizes future business plan regarding money management concepts, procedures and strategies upon completion of program

• Student demonstrates ethical behavior and professionalism with colleagues in the classroom and clients in the treatment spaces

• Student demonstrates ability to use technology to help productivity in the work place

• Student demonstrates critical thinking skills to problem solve when presented with a dilemma

• Student demonstrates professionalism and effectiveness with both oral and written communication

• Student demonstrates confidence, appropriateness, and effectiveness while performing facials, massage techniques, make up application, hair removal, and artificial lash application.

Enrolling in our facial specialist program is your gateway to a rewarding career in skincare. Facial specialists in the U.S. earn an average salary between $35,000 to $50,000 annually, depending on experience and location. • Student will demonstrate accurate skin analysis to decipher when it is appropriate to perform manual

extractions. Students will learn proper techniques in order to safely and effectively treat and remove

comedos and milea.

SC 104 Clinical Education (30)

• Students will participate in hands on lab work where they practice on a variety of clientele as well as

receive like treatments under school guidance and supervision. Students will perform facials, both

mechanical and manual, as well as utilize masks and facial techniques on a variety of skin types

including normal, oily, dry, combo, problem, and mature skin.

• Students will gain an understanding of product ingredients, agents and the chemical interactions used

in skin care

• Students will learn a variety of techniques to effectively perform hair removal including use of soft and

hard wax techniques. Hair removal techniques will include tweezing, waxing, threading, and sugaring.

• Students will learn and demonstrate make up applications for both daytime and nighttime looks

SC 109 Basics of Electrotherapy and Devices (3)

• Students will learn the basics of electrotherapy, appropriate electrotherapy devices used in the

esthetic setting as well as safety, precautions and contraindications related to use. Students will also

demonstrate knowledge of proper set up, use and maintenance of electrical devices.

SC 110 Lash and Brow Tinting (2)

• Students will learn how to perform lash and brow tinting

SC 111 Eyelash Application (12)

• Students will be educated in the application and removal of false eyelashes for both individual lashes

and semi-permanent lashes

SC 112 Florida Laws and Rules (4)

• This course will provide an overview of the various rules and regulations pertaining the practice within

the state of Florida.

SC 113 Ethics (2)

• The Professional Ethics course outlines everything you need to know about ethics in the bodywork

profession including professionalism, roles and boundaries, and ethical business practices.

SC-114 HIV AIDS Education (3)

• HIV/AIDS Education course will further your knowledge of HIV/AIDS and provide valuable information

on how to protect yourself and your clients from exposure to HIV.

SC-115 Business and Professionalism (2)

• This course will help students begin business planning for a career in esthetics. Students will learn how

to create a resume as they ready themselves to enter the spa industry. Students will also learn how to

use technology to promote themselves. Professionalism will be taught to further strengthen each

student’s skill set and contribute to their success in the esthetic workforce.

    This comprehensive massage therapy program will not only teach basic massage theory and techniques, but will prepare the student to perform advanced therapy techniques with competence and professionalism.

    An extensive training in anatomy and physiology class will provide students with the groundwork to understand the human body, it’s functions and common dysfunctions found in clients seeking pain relief with massage therapy. The program allows adequate time to practice manual skills on an array of clientele in order to perfect skills and be confident to enter the workforce.

    • Student will gain an understanding of massage theory and technique as well as the anatomy and physiology of the human body in order to appropriately provide clients with effective and safe massage treatments.

    • Students will be comfortable to perform massage treatments in a professional manner with clear communication and within their scope of practice

    • Student will demonstrate competence in performing different massage techniques in preparation to enter the workforce as a massage therapist

    • Students will be able to identify common dysfunctions of the extremities and spine and understand when to refer the client to the physician

    • Student will be provided sufficient training in both theory and technique in order to sit for the state licensing exam.

    The anatomy/ physiology curriculum will focus on the understanding of the structure and function of the human

    body. Students will gain knowledge of how the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, lymphatic and neurological

    systems function as well as how manual massage therapies can benefit the client for improved wellness.

    Students will be taught how to recognize pathologies and dysfunction related to the muscular, nervous and

    lymphatic systems. Therapeutic exercise and stretches will be taught as a means to enhance massage

    treatments by understanding the effects of strengthening and stretching on the musculoskeletal system and as

    a means to home exercise recommendations to optimize wellness while staying within scope of practice.

    This curriculum series explores the foundations of massage as well as the different types and techniques of

    massage. Students will learn how to set up their work station, perform proper body mechanics during

    treatments, demonstrate appropriate client positioning and draping as well as conduct themselves in a

    professional manner with clear and appropriate communication skills. Students will understand indications and

    contraindications of massage therapy and know when it is appropriate to refer the client to their physician.

    Students will have the opportunity to practice the variety of massage strokes and different techniques on others

    and well as receive treatments on themselves to gain a deeper understanding of the therapeutic effects of

    This series of allied modalities teaches a variety of therapeutic modalities to enhance the massage experience.

    Definitions, indications, contraindications, application are reviewed for each of applied modalities. Students will

    have the opportunity to practice techniques in lab to better develop their skills. Curriculum includes thermal

    modalities such as hot stones, cranial sacral therapies, reflexology, relaxation techniques such as diaphragmatic

    breathing and guided imagery, cupping, kinesiotaping and electrotherapy.

    The Business Development and Marketing course encompasses a wide variety of topics from business

    planning and organization to networking and communication skills. With so many topics and ideas, a

    professional’s mind can run wild with how to incorporate these practices into their current or future practice.

    You will also learn why, how and when to review your business’s finances so that you can start tracking your

    entrepreneurial journey. You will learn how to isolate potential problems or financial roadblocks that stand

    between you and the goals you have for your business’s profit. Other topics that are covered include choosing

    a bank, banking online, knowing how to implement a cost benefit analysis, how much should be saved to start

    a practice or expand, and so many other strategies and tactics.

    MT 600: Theory and Practice of Hydrotherapy (15 hrs)

    The Theory and Practice of Hydrotherapy will introduce you to simple and effective water treatments you can

    easily combine with massage techniques. It will guide you in understanding and incorporating hydrotherapy

    treatments into your everyday massage routine. With the information provided, in almost no time at all, you

    will feel confident in your ability to deepen the effectiveness of your massage skills by using many helpful

    water treatments!

    • MT 600: Theory and Practice of Hydrotherapy (15)

    MT 700: Florida Laws and Rules Governing Massage Therapy Practice (10 hrs)

    This course will provide an overview of the various rules and regulations pertaining to the practice of massage

    therapy within the state of Florida. It is imperative that massage therapists have a working knowledge of these

    rules and regulations since failure to comply, whether intentionally or unintentionally, can result in substantial

    fines or even suspension or revocation of the practitioner’s license.

    HIV/AIDS Education course will further your knowledge of HIV/AIDS and provide valuable information on how

    ways HIV can and cannot be contracted, the stages of the HIV infection and what you can to protect yourself

    and your clients from exposure to HIV/AIDS.

    The Prevention of Medical Errors course discusses common medical errors made in the American health care

    system. This course will discuss solutions to these problems and what professionals can do to prevent them

          What motivates many patients to show up for therapy? While our smiling faces and great personalities can contribute to a good therapy experience, patients are often motivated to attend therapy because they have pain and they believe the physical or occupational therapist can help alleviate their pain and improve their function. Patient’s often rate their therapy success level on their pain levels. We know pain is often anticipated pre and post-surgery, during cancer treatment, and with chronic pain conditions, but now we can greatly help our patients by incorporating relaxation techniques into our existing treatments and reducing pain in our patients for a more effective treatment intervention.

          Physical and occupations therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapy assistants, registered nurses, massage therapists and other medical professionals interested in learning guided imagery and relaxation techniques. Estheticians in medical settings can also incorporate these advanced techniques to enhance their treatments.

          Michelle Rice, founder of “Preserva Institute”, is a physical therapist with over twenty years of experience and specializes in breast cancer rehabilitation.

          She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor Degree in Human and Organizational Development and received her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She has extensive knowledge in manual therapies and incorporates craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, trigger point release, soft tissue mobilization, scar release, manual lymph drainage, yoga, breath control and relaxation techniques into her treatments.

          She is a certified lymphedema therapist and yoga instructor. She owns Preserva Therapy MED SPA where she also provides personalized outpatient therapy treatment to women and men on their path to recovery after cancer.

          3:15: 3:30 Combining manual techniques with relaxation techniques demonstration

          3:30-4:45pm: Lab: practice manual techniques of neck and face while guiding patient with breathing cues, progressive muscle relaxation and guided imagery.
